Grahaeme Henderson
Vice President, Shipping & Maritime

Grahaeme Henderson is responsible for Shell’s international shipping and maritime activities, including ships, barges, drilling units, floating production facilities and related operations. His work spans Shell’s entire business across upstream, downstream, projects and construction.
Dr. Henderson’s global team also manages Shell’s oil tanker, LPG and LNG vessel portfolio including 44 LNG ships, which make up some 11% of the world fleet, and some of the world’s most technically advanced LNG carriers.
He was previously MD of Brunei Shell Petroleum, Royal Dutch Shell’s upstream joint venture company in Brunei. His Shell career has also included roles in The Netherlands, Nigeria, Syria and the UK.


Knut Ørbeck-Nilssen
Chief Executive Officer
DNV GL – Maritime

Knut Ørbeck-Nilssen is the CEO of DNV GL – Maritime and a member of the Executive Board of DNV GL SE. He was appointed CEO in August 2015 and prior to that had been the Chief Operating Officer and President of DNV GL – Maritime.

After joining DNV in Oslo, in 1990, as a structural engineer, Knut Ørbeck-Nilssen worked in DNV’s core business areas serving the maritime and oil & gas industries. He undertook many roles in the organization, including project management, across a wide range of technical disciplines and also held a number of management positions. He was also based in Japan for two years.

In September 2013, Knut Ørbeck-Nilssen was appointed as Director of Division Europe, Africa & Americas in DNV GL – Maritime, one of two geographic divisions responsible for DNV GL’s core maritime and offshore classification business of DNV GL. For a period, he held both the position of President of DNV GL – Maritime as well as Director of Division Europe, Africa & Americas.

Knut Ørbeck-Nilssen holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Heriot-Watt University where he was awarded a First Class Honour’s Degree in Civil Engineering in 1990. In his final year, he was awarded the Watt Club Medal, Heriot-Watt University’s premier award for undergraduate students. He also received an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Oslo Polytechnic in 1987.


Michael Parker
Chairman, Global Shipping, Logistics & Offshore
Citi Group

Michael Parker joined Citibank N.A. in London in September 1977. Michael Parker was recently appointed Chairman of Citi’s Global Shipping, Logistics and Offshore business having been Global Industry Head since 1997 until now. Vice Chairman of Corporate & Investment Banking (EMEA) and Chairman Corporate Banking EMEA.

During his 34 years involvement with shipping finance Mr. Parker has been a regular conference chairman, speaker or panellist. Under his leadership Citi receives recognised industry awards across the different areas of shipping finance and he was named Marine Money’s Dealmaker of the Year in 2012. In March 2015 in New York : Capital Link Leadership Award “in recognition of Michael Parker’s unique and extensive contribution to the shipping industry”. Mr. Parker chaired the London Committee of Intercargo for a number of years and is involved in UK maritime matters as they pertain to finance and served on the Expert Panel advising the UK Department for Transport on the UK 2050 Maritime Strategy. In 2015 and 2017 he served on the Advisory Board of London International Shipping Week and served on the Advisory Board for LISW 2019. In 2017 he was appointed to the Board of The Global Maritime Forum. Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Poseidon Principles launched in New York June 2019.


Peter Sand
Chief Shipping Analyst

Peter Sand joined BIMCO in 2009 and holds the position of Chief Shipping Analyst. In this position, he is responsible for analysing the commercial markets for dry bulkers, tankers and containerships. Taking the offset in global economics as the analytical starting point for all seaborne trade, he assists managements, members and clients with insight into many different aspects of the global shipping industry.
Peter’s regular reports, focused analytical articles and insightful comments on the shipping market are widely read and have often been referenced in global mainstream media.
Teacher of Maritime Economics at the Danish Shipping Academy as well as guest lecturer at Copenhagen Business School: Blue MBA and BSc International Shipping and Trade.
During the rise and fall of the shipping markets Peter gained experience in the fields of shipping analysis, executive assistance, caretaking of investors and the art of transforming data and statistics into overviews and forecasts. Prior to his career in BIMCO, he worked for the dry bulk and product tanker company D/S NORDEN. Peter holds a Master’s Degree in economics from the University of Copenhagen.


Katharina Stanzel
Managing Director

Katharina Stanzel has served as Managing Director of INTERTANKO since 2012. The fifth MD in the Association’s long history, she brings an environmental background to the position. She holds postgraduate qualifications in coastal management and business administration from universities in Germany, the UK and Australia.
A marine biologist by training, she entered the world of shipping in the 1990s. Focussing on marine pollution from ships, she spent ten years as technical advisor for the International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation before joining the IOPC Funds, a UN body tasked with administering several crucial compensation conventions for oil pollution from tankers.
She is a Member of the American Bureau of Shipping and sits on the Marine and European Advisory Committees for Lloyd’s Register and RINA respectively. She also served as non-executive director on the Board of SeaAlarm, a Belgian foundation that brings together NGOs, government agencies and industry to enhance oiled wildlife response.
In 2012, she was honoured to be named WISTA International Personality of the Year by the Women in Shipping Trade Association.


Paul Tivnan
Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Secretary and Treasurer
Ardmore Shipping

Mr. Tivnan joined Ardmore in June 2010 and was appointed Chief Financial Officer in December 2012. From 2002 to 2010, he was employed at Ernst & Young in the Financial Services Advisory department specializing
in international tax and corporate structuring. He was a participant in Ernst & Young’s Accelerated Leadership Program from 2008 to 2010. Mr. Tivnan holds a BA in Accounting and Finance and an MBS in Accounting each from Dublin City University. He is a graduate of the London Business School Executive Leadership program, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland, an Associate of the Irish Taxation Institute and a member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.
