 Cichen shen  

Cichen Shen
China Editor, Lloyd's List

Based in Hong Kong, Cichen Shen is the China Editor for Lloyd’s List. He is responsible for covering a wide range of maritime issues, from the Cosco-China Shipping merger and the growth of Chinese lessors to the collapse of Hanjin and the integration between the Japanese carriers.

Cichen is a frequent interviewer of the top business leaders in Asian shipping.

Prior to his role at Lloyd’s List, Cichen worked as a reporter for China’s Caijing Magazine in Beijing and was a local producer for the US National Public Radio and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Shanghai.


Arthur Bowring

Arthur Bowring MH is presently an Arbitrator and Mediator and an Advisor and Consultant to the Maritime and Commercial industries.

Arthur has a broad shipping and commercial background, which includes several years at sea as a deck officer, working as a ship surveyor for Lloyds Register, acting as an oil and dry cargo chartering and owning broker and freight trader for a major international trading house, handling marine insurance placing and claims and working as a consultant, handling investigative work, and claims and project management. He was the Managing Director of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association for almost 20 years.

Arthur is President of the Hong Kong Maritime Arbitration Group, and Fellow of several professional institutions.

Arthur has been honoured by several industry awards. In addition, he has been awarded the Medal of Honour by the Hong Kong SAR Government and conferred an Honorary Fellow of the Hong Kong Vocational Training Council.


William Fairclough

William Fairclough graduated from Edinburgh University in July 2000 with a degree in business studies. He subsequently worked for Credit Suisse prior to joining H Clarkson & Co in London as a shipbroker in 2002 and relocating to Clarkson Asia Ltd in Hong Kong later that year. During his time at Clarkson Asia Ltd he worked in various roles as a chartering broker, sale and purchase broker and for the group’s in-house shipowing and logistics arm. In 2006, William left Clarksons as a co-founder and director of Mandarin Shipping Limited. In 2016 William joined the board of Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings Limited and was appointed Chief Commercial Officer before taking on the role of Managing Director for the group’s shipowning activities in 2019.


Bjorn Hojgaard
Chief Executive Officer
Anglo-Eastern Univan Group

Bjorn Hojgaard is the CEO of Anglo-Eastern Univan Group, one of the world’s foremost ship management companies, headquartered in Hong Kong, with more than 600 vessels under full technical management, another 200+ under crew management, and some 450 supervised newbuildings and conversions to its credit.

His appointment follows the 2015 merger with Univan Ship Management, where he was also CEO. Previously, he was Managing Director at Thome Ship Management, Brigantine Group and A.P. Moller Singapore, as well as Manager of Operations, Efficiency & IT for APM Terminals.

A keen yachtsman and Master Mariner, Bjorn worked his way up through the ranks, from military service in the Royal Danish Navy to Captain of one of the largest container vessels in the A.P. Moller - Maersk merchant fleet, before moving into shore-side management.

Bjorn is the current serving Deputy Chairman of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association and a council member of INTERTANKO, in addition to holding other notable roles at various industry and professional bodies.


Shah Irani
Chief Technology Officer
Fleet Management

Shah is an IT and digital expert with over 17 years of international experience. Appointed as CTO - Fleet Management in August 2019, he is in charge of the technology roadmap and how IT can be used to help not only meet the growing demands of our business but also optimise and digitise existing processes.

One of the key focus areas for technology is in modernising our award-winning enterprise resource platform – Planning And Reporting Infrastructure for Ships (PARIS)PARIS platform. Shah is working closely with the Fleet Board to define the future roadmap for PARIS which will not only provide a better user experience for both ship and onshore users but also how we can leverage analytics to provide insights for decision-making.

Prior to joining Fleet, Shah worked as Group IT Director for Dairy Farm based in Hong Kong (part of Jardines) where he led the customer-facing technology portfolio covering areas including Loyalty, e-commerce and Point-of-Sale. Before this he was at Waitrose where he helped lead a new award-winning customer proposition “Pick Your Own” promotions. He started his IT career at the multi-national retailer Tesco where amongst many roles, he owned and led the development of the global Clubcard loyalty platform; a fully in-house developed set of products that improved digital capability internationally.


Christophe Letelier
Head of Business Development, International Supply Chain, Asia Pacific

Christophe Letelier is an International Supply Chain and Logistics Professional specializing in cost reduction, process improvements and best practices.
During his last 11 years in Asia Pacific, Christophe has worked for leading companies in consulting, ocean container shipping, retail/sourcing and 3rd party logistics.
His areas of expertise include logistics & transportation, buyer consolidation, planning & tracking, strategic sourcing, purchase order management, project management, industry benchmarking.
Thanks to his industrial expertise covering a wide range of the supply chain, Christophe has assisted companies in realizing substantial and sustainable savings.
Currently working for Kuehne-Nagel International Supply Chain, he is his working of helping clients to achieve best-in-class status from both a strategic and operational perspective for their international supply chain.
Christophe earned his master's degree in industrial engineering from Arts et Métiers ParisTech, his master of science in general management from IAE Aix en Provence Graduate School of Management and recently completed a two years MicroMasters credential in Supply Chain Management with Massachussets Institute of Technology.

 Guy Platten  

Guy Platten

International Chamber of Shipping

Guy was appointed Secretary General of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) in August 2018. The ICS membership comprises national shipowners' associations in Asia, Europe and the Americas whose member shipping companies operate over 80% of the world's merchant tonnage. Guy has extensive experience in the maritime industry both at sea and ashore over the last 35 years and is a qualified Master Mariner. He has held a number of operational and management positions including most recently CEO of the UK Chamber of Shipping and CEO of Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (a ferry and port owning company).


Joseph Law
Senior Director
LNG Bunkering 

With a banking background, Joseph Law joined the CLP Group in 2001. He is responsible for corporate planning and strategy, tariff and regulatory management, commercial projects development as well as innovation activities of CLP Power Hong Kong Limited. Joseph holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of British Columbia in Canada, and is also a Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Public Accountant.


Steve Siu
Chief Executive Officer


Mr. Steve Siu is the Deputy Managing Director of COSCO, Chief Information Officer of OOCL and Chief Executive Officer of CargoSmart. With over 30 years working experience in shipping industry, Steve has been actively engaged in strategic digital transformation of container lines, industry portal business model and advanced industry solution in platform system and applications. After joining the OOCL group in 1987, Steve has facilitated the development of the Integrated Regional Information System, known as IRIS-2 that launched in 1999. The integrated system has enhanced OOCL’s business operations and customer services. In addition to his contribution in the shipping industry, Steve has been part of the leading roles in the formation of the Global Shipping Business Network that leverages blockchain technology to accelerate the digital transformation of the shipping industry since early 2018.
Steve holds an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Kellogg at Northwestern University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He also received a Master of Science degree in computer and communication and a Bachelor of Science degree in computer and microprocessor engineering from the University of Essex, UK.
